Snowboarders, skiers and spectators gathered this past weekend at the inaugural Dew Downtown Flagstaff Urban Snowboarding and Ski Festival. The event, which was somewhat controversial among locals due to its location, included a course made out of straw, hauled-in snow and several features built on San Francisco St. between Dale and Birch Avenues—just northeast of the heart of downtown Flag.
The course was open all Saturday, allowing all ages of boarders and skiers to practice for the competition held Sunday.
When participants and audience members weren’t on the course or watching through the blue and red meshing on the sides, many wandered around the beer garden, blow-up play areas and booths. The face painting was especially popular.
